Andrew "Butch" Williams III

July 05, 1948 - November 05, 2018

Andrew Butch Williams III Andrew Williams III, 70, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away on November 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1201 Thomas V. Bryant Drive, Jeffersonville, IN, with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Legacy Funeral Center of Jeffersonville has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Andrew was born in Louisville, Kentucky, and was raised in the historic Smoketown Neighborhood. Andrew was a 1966 graduate of Louisville Male High School, and was a member of the "drumline that changed everything." He paid his way through college and a jazz drummer, graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1970 with a Bachelors of Political. He was a proud charter member of EKU's Omega Phi Psi, Delta Sigma chapter.
Andrew's vast professional career spanned over 40 years, as an entrepreneur, consultant, and project manager on both sides of the River. He also played a vital and selfless role in minority business development.
Andrew was a humble and active community servant. He served on the Jeffersonville City Council for 12 years, volunteered for many organizations in Kentuckiana, including the Boy Scouts of America, Jeffersonville Housing Authority, and held past memberships in the NAACP and Jeffersonville Rotary. Andrew was also a devoted and active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Andrew had a warm, and infectious smile. He loved his friends and family deeply and was intentional about spending time and creating memories with them; always sharing wisdom or just a laugh. Andrew was many things to many people: a neighbor, husband, grandfather, brother, father, role model, cousin, uncle, mentor, barber, drummer, and sometimes a personal banker. But above all he was a loyal and committed friend.
He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Andrew Williams II and Mary Helen Williams; his beloved mother, Ruthann Williams; and grandparents, Vernon and Willie Mae Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Rosetta "Rose" Williams; children, Kanneil Williams (Tiffany), Andrew Williams IV, Teah Mikole Williams-Hampton (Miguel), Dominique "Nikki" Williams, Carlos Butler, and D'Adren "DJ" Hervey; two siblings, James Snoddy and Rhonda Higgins; grandchildren Andre, Andrel, Anetra, Andrew V, Antonio, Xavier, Dominik, Mireya, Camryn, Jadynn, Mantrell, Chrissy, Trinity and one great-grandchild Annalise; his lifelong friends Phillip "Fletch" Fletcher (Georgette), Hugh Armstrong and a host of other close friends and family members.
Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Gilda's Club or Hosparus of Louisville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral services. Online condolences can be made at

Sending prayers and my sincere sympathy to the William's family. Andrew is a Smoketown Original and a classmate of mine. I had the pleasure of seeing him not long ago at one of our birthday celebrations for our "70" crew. We were all so excited to be together again. Rest in heavenly peace Andrew. You are missed, but well remembered. Strength, peace, and love to your family is my prayer.

My love and prayers go out to the family of this amazing man, my friend for life Andrew. I thank God for the memories I have of him and the fun and crazy times we had. We didn't have to talk often to know we were always buddies. Thank you, Andrew, for the friendship, wisdom, rib-breaking laughs, and love. You, Agnes and I were the 3 Stooges (literally). Two of you are back together again. I couldn't help but laugh thinking of you and Agnes seeing each other and her asking, "You're here?" I'll see my buddies again one day. Love you Tank, Teah, Nikki and Kanneil.
