Anthony "Tony" Kraus, 50, passed away November 26, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born November 24, 1967 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Arthur Clay Kraus Jr. and Rose Marie Johnson Kraus. Tony graduated from Providence High School (Clarksville, Indiana) and Indiana University. Tony was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and taught Church History for 13 years at Owensboro Catholic High School. Tony was a sponsor at OCHS for Habitat for Humanity, a member of the Men's Club at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a Diocesan SAFE Environment Board member, Director of Choral Music, and "The Bingo King" of OCHS, overseeing Bingo, as it was vital to the fundraising efforts for the catholic schools. Tony was a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Knight. He enjoyed being outside, fishing, mowing, gardening, and had a paper route from the age of nine to the year of 2009. Tony loved to provide, as he had a servant's heart.
Tony is also preceded in death by his sister, Karen Moore.
Tony is survived by his wife, Christy Bowlds Kraus; his step-daughter Kayla Marie Nall; and his three dogs Frankie, Obie and Jak. He is also survived by siblings Mary Ann (Timothy) Waterman of Carmel, Indiana, Steven (Margaret) Kraus of Louisville, Kevin Kraus of Rancho Santa Margarita, California and Jeannie (Michael) Northrop of Sugar Grove, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Owensboro Catholic High School, with burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, with Father Ed Bradley officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m., with prayers being said at 6 p.m., and on Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, Owensboro, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions made in his memory to a scholarship fund reserved for an OCHS senior who is pursuing a degree in religious education, "The Mr. Kraus Memorial Scholarship Fund", c/o Independence Bank, 2425 Frederica Street; Owensboro, KY 42301, 1776bank.com.
