Charles William Banet, 98, New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was a United States Air Force veteran that proudly served his country during World War II. Charles was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Albany. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He was born on December 21, 1919 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late George and Elizabeth (Renn) Banet. Charles was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Steinert) Banet; son-in-law, Otis Fonda; as well as nine brothers and sisters.
Charles is survived by his children, Sandra Fonda, Michael Banet (Peggy); grandchildren, Erik Fonda (Michelle), Mark Fonda (Jeanine), Todd Fonda (Beth), Kimberly Polster (Josh), Nathan Banet (Kelly); 17 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church (415 E. Eighth St., New Albany) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
