Charles R. Kimes, 91, died Sunday morning at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. He was born in New Albany to the late Emery and Alma (Bernardi) Kimes. He retired as the founder/owner of Kimes Construction and was a Navy Veteran of W.W.II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge #39 in New Albany and was a member of the Carpenters Union for over 70 years.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie J. (Davis) Kimes; son: Richard Kimes; daughter: Anita Quinlan Kimes (Dennis); his brother: Basil L. Kimes: sisters: Delores Potter and Joyce James; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Douglas Kimes and sisters: Maybelle Speak, Wilma Ackerman and Von Grunden.
Visitation will be from 1 - 8 PM Tuesday at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville (1846 E. Oak St., New Albany) and from 10-11 AM Wednesday at his church.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church (2796 Charlestown Rd, New Albany, IN) with burial to follow in SCI-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. Expressions of sympathy: Trinity United Methodist Church.
