Charles Staser, 74 years of age Floyds Knobs died Monday, October 16, 2017 at his residence following an illness. Charlie was retired from the New Albany Fire Department and was a member of the Lafayette Township Fire Department since 1984. He was a member of the Retired Police & Firemen Association, the Indiana Fireman Association and was a member of the Providence High School Men's Booster Club. He was a member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs where he was an active volunteer. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Anne Grantz in 2005, siblings, Louis and James Staser, Mary Delaney, Mary Louise Paul and Donna McKnight.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Mary Anne Carney Staser; grandsons, Andrew Grantz and his wife Jenna and Nathanial Grantz; son-in-law Chuck Grantz; siblings, Robert Paul Staser, Barbara Hoskins and her husband Jerry, Helen Paragin; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday October 21 and 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday October 22 and after 9 a.m. Monday October 23 at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St. in New Albany. His funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church Chapel with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
