Dale Randall Shultz, 59, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away at 3:40 AM, Monday, December 18th, 2017 at his residence. Dale was born in Floyds Knobs, IN on April 6, 1958, a son of the late Barbara Ellen (Strout) and Larry Milton Shultz. He was a graduate of Floyd Central High School, Class of 1976 and also attended Indiana University, Southeast. Dale was employed as an insurance agent at the Rising Sun Branch of Friendship Insurance. Before his employment at Friendship, Dale was an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance for over 20 years. Dale was a civic minded person and very involved in the Rising Sun community. He was
former president of Ohio County Park Board and had a shelter at the walking trails named after him for his efforts. He was a member of the Rotary Club (both locally and regionally), and a former Kiwanis Club member. He was also a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Dale enjoyed basketball, football, hiking, fishing and gardening. Dale was a people person and his door at Friendship was always open to those that needed him. He was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather of his 3 grandchildren that he was blessed with before his passing. Dale will be deeply missed by his family, coworkers and the whole Ohio County Community.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sheryl Shultz, of Rising Sun, IN; by two daughters, Stephanie Grasic (Rush), of Denver, CO and Amber Hodge, of Beechmont, OH; by two sons Darren Shultz (Tricia), of Independence, KY and David Shultz, of Ross, OH; by 3 grandchildren, Conner and Caleb Shultz and Norah Grasic; by two sisters, Doris Duckworth (Bob), of Colorado Springs, CO and Brenda Rickard, of New Albany, IN. Dale was preceded in death by his parents and by brothers Wayne and Leonard Shultz.
Graveside services will be 1 PM, Friday, December 22nd at Bethel Cemetery in New Albany, IN. Friends are invited to call Thursday 5-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN.
