Daniel's Story

Daniel F. Johnson, 88, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on February 9, 2017 at his home. He was born to Clarence E. Johnson Sr. and Grace L. Ryan Johnson on March 24, 1928 in the town of Blasdell, New York. He graduated from Blasdell High School in June of 1945 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served his country for 8 years. Between the terms, he went to college in Chicago, Illinois to learn about television broadcasting. Mr. Johnson was called from reserve status to active duty by President Harry S. Truman in 1950. He was released from active duty in September of 1951, at which time he was employed with AT&T Co. to work in Louisville, Kentucky. He retired from the telephone company in 1982. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Sellersburg Speed Food Pantry, American Legion Post 204, and the Clark County Cemetery Commission. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean Johnson (Kiebler) and his brother, Clarence E. Johnson, Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Susan McKay of Jeffersonville, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. To fulfill Mr. Johnsons wishes cremation was chosen. Online condolences may be expressed at www.garrfuneralservices.com
