David "Dawg" C. Callis, 67, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Kindred Hospital Louisville. He did small engine repair and was a truck driver for Mother's Cookies and Coca-Cola. David served in the U.S. Marines in Vietnam. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and was a diehard U of K fan. "Dawg" was loved by all and we will miss his hootie who. He was a native of Bedford, KY.
He is survived by his wife Virginia M. "Ginny" Callis of Clarksville, IN.; daughter Rhonda G. Lynch of New Albany, IN.; brothers Truman D. Callis (Patty) Bloomington, IN., Jerry L. Callis (Teresa) of Clarksville, IN., Ricky J. Callis Campbellsburg, KY.; sister Donna J. Little of Indianapolis, IN.; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
David was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy D. Callis; father Jessie J. Callis; mother Martha M. Krohn; his brothers Richard J. Callis, Jimmy L. Callis, Mickie E. Callis; sister Connie S. Walker.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11 a.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
