Delmar O. Johnson

November 19, 1927 - July 16, 2018

Delmar O. Johnson, 90, of New Albany died Monday night at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born in Ashland, Kentucky to the late David O. and Maltia (Preston) Johnson. He was a Navy veteran of W.W.II having served in the Philippines as a Seabee. Following his military service he received his master's degree from the University of Kentucky School of Agriculture and served as the President of the Indiana Agriculture Teachers Assoc. and the Director of Vocational Education for the state of Indiana. He retired as the Director of the Prosser Vocational School in New Albany. He was a longtime member and Elder of Central Christian Church in New Albany.
He is survived by his daughters Marcia Zihar (Ron) and Melinda Schneider (Patrick); his daughter in law Valeria Johnson; his sister Doris Cutshall; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Ann (Gullett) Johnson; his son John David Johnson; his parents and brothers and sister.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes (1119 E. Market St., New Albany, IN)
His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Central Christian Church (1315 E. Spring St., New Albany, IN) with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Burial with military honors will be in Kraft Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, IN
