Dorothy's Story

Dorothy Marilyn (McKenney) Brown, 86, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Monday morning, May 1, 2017. In June of 1951 she graduated from Nazareth School of Nursing and went on to work at Floyd Memorial Hospital for over 25 years as a registered nurse. Dot was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and had been an active volunteer for St. Elizabeth Catholic Charities for many years.
She was born on January 18, 1931 in Donerail, Kentucky to the late Corlis and Amizetta (Rankin) McKenney. Dot was also preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years, William Brown; sister, Betty Pearl; and brother, Eugene McKenney.
Dot is survived by her sons, Michael Joseph Brown (Kathy), Charles Patrick Brown (Brenda); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with her funeral service taking place at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
