Faye Marie (Wismann) Hammett, 85, of Sellersburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday morning, October 1, 2017. Faye will always be remembered for her feisty banter, her enthusiasm for the NFL and Peyton Manning, and her love for her children and grandchildren.
She was born on August 29, 1932 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Francis and Emma (Meriwether) Wismann. Faye was also preceded in death by her husband, Marquis Hammett Sr.; and siblings, Harold and Guy Wismann.
Faye is survived by her children, Diane Strelka (Tom), Jude Hammett (Sue Sherrod), Mary Santo, Teresa Bizub (Dave), Marquis Hammett Jr. (Donna); sisters, Fern Loi, Bette Ann Wismann, (Judy Eisele); 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus, 218 Schellers Avenue, Sellersburg) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
