I had the honor of first meeting Red and Hazel in 1985. I was a new student at IUS, and our meeting is quite a story, as many over the years. He was a mentor to me as a pool player, as he had lots of experience, and was a respectful and class act player. I considered Red and Hazel (who grew up near my Mom in Floyd county) close friends. I will carry my memories of them both as some of the best in my life. Best to all of the family. Jim Hash

I had the honor of working with Mr. Herschel the last few months. I loved how sweet he was. And how he was so excited about me having a baby. Absolutely the sweetest man I ever met. We loved watching The Big Bang. Rest it peace darling.
