Loraine L. Allen, age 90, of New Albany, IN passed away Monday at Autumn Woods Health Campus, New Albany, IN. She was a native of Richland, Indiana and was a retired kindergarten teacher for 18 years at Greenville Elementary School, New Albany-Floyd County School Corporation. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a Past Director of Music at DePauw United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church. She was certified as Director of Music in the Diaconal Ministry of the United Methodist Church, New Albany. She was a member of the Coterie, Jennie Gebhart Hedden Music Study Club. She was also a member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and the Fellowship of United Methodist Musicians.
She is survived by a son, Stephen F. Allen (Linda) New Albany, IN; and a daughter, Carol L. White (Max), Sellersburg, IN; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Allen, her parents William and Anise Lang and two brothers, Robert M. and Charles Warren Lang.
Friends may call at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, 1119 East Market Street, New Albany, Indiana from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2796 Charlestown Road, New Albany, after 9 a.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Trinity United Methodist Church Music Ministry or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
