Marla Jean Shelburne, 62, Sellersburg, passed away on January 18, 2018. She was born on October 30, 1955 in Clarksville, Indiana to William and Helen Shelburne. Marla completed a program at the Harris School of Advertising Art in Nashville, Tennessee and studied at Indiana University Southeast. She had recently retired after a lifelong career working for the United States Census Bureau.
Marla was a talented artist and enjoyed making pottery, photography, and needlework. She was honest, funny, and had a keen eye for beauty. Marla loved animals, but particularly dogs, and she will be deeply missed by her beloved fur baby, a Siberian Husky named Kai. She enjoyed travel, but particularly loved her visits to Hawaii and dreamed of going back.
Marla is survived by her mother, Helen Shelburne; brother, Ron (Jan) Shelburne; sister, Linda (Jim) Price, and her nieces and nephews, Greg, Jennifer, Jason, Ken, and Shannon, as well as great nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Shelburne and her beloved dog, Susie.
A memorial visitation will be held on February 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM with a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM at Spring Valley Funeral and Cremation Service, 1217 E.
