Mary's Story

Mary Elaine Deeter, 73, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully into the hands our heavenly Father on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Hosparus Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville, Ky. She was born August 12, 1944, to the late George H. and Arvilla (Busche) Deeter. Mary was a graduate of Howe High School in Indianapolis and the University of Indianapolis with an honors degree in English Literature. Mary was a loving mother and a follower of Christ. She was always a lady and had a kind disposition. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she served as parish librarian for several years prior to her health declining. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Everett.
She survived by her children, Lance Hay of Austin, TX, and Lavena Hay McCullum (Chuck) of New Albany; grandchildren, Daniel, Harper, and Woods Hay, and Cael and Anneliese McCullum; brother, Bob Deeter (Bonnie) of Huntsville, AL; as well as nieces, great-nieces, and a great-nephew.
A private service officiated by Pastor Matt Woods will be held with interment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
