Matilda Adkins Matilda A. Adkins, 80, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was a retired bus driver for Greater Clark County Schools. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons Tim A. Adkins (Stephanie) of Dayton, OH, Byron L. Adkins of Mt. Washington, KY, Thomas A. Adkins (Kim) of Jeffersonville, IN, and Dale L. Adkins (Paula) of Tampa, FL; daughters Mary C. Baker (Dennis) of Clarksville, IN, and Christin L. Adkins of Jeffersonville, IN; along with 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Adkins; father Claude Sowders; mother Catherine Sowders; brothers Jay, Joseph, and Alphonse Sowders.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home.

Ms. Adkins was the dearest friend to my mom Wilma Mason and the best babysitter/friend/ 2nd mom to her girls. So sorry for your loss. Her wings were ready but we were not. 💔💔💔

What a special woman. A devoted mother. A very proud Catholic. I will treasure my memories of her...and sitting with her on her porch swing. My thoughts and prayers to you as you grieve the loss of your precious mother.
