Philip "Phil" Haas passed away on July 8, 2019 at the age of 64. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruth Haas and a sister Becky Haas. Also, his friends that went before him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Susan, best friend and business partner. She was the love of his life. They traveled lifelong and had so much fun together. He is also survived by a sister Martha Shaw.
Phil was a jeweler/designer for 44 years and owner of Haas Jewelers in New Albany since 1982. He always appreciated and enjoyed the camaraderie and trust shown him by his clients.
Phil was a past president of the Historic New Albany Kiwanis Club and also Lieutenant Governor for the Scenic Hills Division of Kiwanis. Phil always encouraged participation in community service. Give back in some way to make your community a better place to live. Phil was also a drummer. He'll miss his band mates more than you know. He was so thankful to have been able to play with great musicians over the years.
Most importantly, Phil had more close personal friends than any one person deserved. He loved you all.
Paul Newman in the movie Hombre is quoted "we're all going to die, its just a question of when." Lastly, one of Phil's favorite musicians Alejandro Escovedo in his song "People" sings "we all got time, just never quite as much as you think."
Per Phil's wishes, there will be no visitation or services and his arrangements have been entrusted to the Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes.
Peace, Love and Cuban Cigars!

I’m so sorry for your loss, Susan! I’m shocked. Phil was so unique! So talented. It’s been a whole long time since I’ve heard him play the drums, but I remember it with smiles. I picture him and Jimmy together. I was blessed to have known him.

I went to HighSchool with Phil and he made jewelry for me several times over the years. He was a wonderful, caring, and loving individual. We have lost a great person. I can still remember when he played the drums in the band at high school. We'll always have good memories of you feel rest in peace.

So shocked to hear this very upsetting news. Phil was one of the most charming gentleman I had the pleasure of knowing. He always greeted you with his beautiful smile and warm hello and those will be missed so very much. His art of jewelry making was beyond masterful. There will never be any as unusual or beautiful. I will miss visiting the shop and chatting with him and Susan. I have my Grandmother’s ring that I only I entrusted Phil to clean and check for me.
I knew he appreciated the beauty and sediment of it as much as I did. So very sorry for your loss Susan. You will be missed by many Mr. Phill Haas. Gods speed.

I have many earrings and a wedding ring designed and custom made by Phil. I will cherish the memories with him and Susan in the shop choosing gem stones and tweaking my earrings to always hang perfectly. It was a wonderful experience having a beer with your jeweler and his wife as he designed master pieces.

Susan, you have my deepest sympathy. My heart breaks for you. Peace, love and comfort to you my friend.

Funny how circumstances lead to deep friendships. French Quarter, Liquid Blue Divers and an eagle ray pendant opened up an almost 20 year relationship with FUP and ECGVN that will continue on.
