Robert's Story

age 90, passed away Friday at The Historic Villages of Silvercrest. He was a native of Bedford, IN and was retired as president of Transit Oil Company. He later worked as a consultant for Johnson Oil Company. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he held several positions in the local church as well as serving on the conference level. He loved Boating,, Tennis, and Fishing. He was a member of the Louisville Boat Club and the infamous Liar's Club. He was a life member of Kamp Kaintuck. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Member of the Bonnie Sloan Post #28 American Legion. He was a Lifetime Charter Member of the National WWII Memorial. He was a life member of the Bedford Lodge #14 F.&A.M. a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Valley of Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and an active member of Kosair Shrine, Louisville, KY. He was a member and past president of the New Albany Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Louisville Oil. Men's Club and the Kentucky Independent Gasoline Marketers Association. He is survived by his wife: Violet (Amburgey) Asbury; 1 son - Donald H. Asbury (Lisa) - Georgetown, IN; 2 daughters: Teresa Summers (Randy) - Greenville, IN, Rhonda Asbury - New Albany, IN; 1 brother - Jerry Asbury - Mitchell, IN; 1 sister - Betty Neal - Bedford, IN; 2 Grandchildren - DeLena Baker and Robert Jenkins; 3 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Market Street Chapel / Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes and after 10 AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment/ Private. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kosair Charities.
