Robert's Story

Robert L. Lipps Sr., 92, passed away Sunday May 7, 2017 in New Albany. A winter resident of Siesta Key (Sarasota), Florida. He was the former owner along with his sons James and Robert Jr of the Lipps-National Printing Corp. where he retired as president in 1994. He was former president of the Floyd Memorial Hospital Foundation, the New Albany Country Club and the New Albany Rotary. He was a life member of the American Legion, New Albany Elks Lodge, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the Girl Scouts. He was also an Army Air Corp World War II veteran. Bob was active in various community and civic organizations, serving as president and campaign chairman of the Floyd County United Way Fund and served for eight years as a director of the Kentuckiana Council of the Girl Scouts. He attended University of Louisville, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. A longtime supporter of U of L Athletics and one of the founders of the Sunnyside Cardinal Club. He was a member of the Tampa Bay Alumni Club, charter member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and St. Michael's Catholic Church in Siesta Key, FL. Bob was inducted as a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and served as counselor for Senior Corps of Retired Executives. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Mary Helen (Rouck) Lipps, parents John and Elsie (Fenger) Lipps, and brother Paul Lipps.
Survivors include children, Susan Gallo (Peter), Sarah Cicatko (Joe), James R. Lipps and Robert L. "Bobby" Lipps; grandchildren, Lauren Ziady (Eric), Andrea Sommers (Shawn), Shelby VanArsdale (Brandon), Blake Lipps (Cami), and Joseph and Caroline Cicatko; great grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey and Courtney Ziady, Ryan Sommers, Alayna Lipps and Everly VanArsdale
The family would like to thank the staff at the Villages at Historic Silvercrest for the wonderful compassionate care they showed Bob. We will forever be grateful for all that was done for him during his stay.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
