Rodney Louis Heavrin, 79 years of age died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born December 31, 1937 in Brandenburg, Kentucky to the late Samuel and Nellie (Wilcox) Heavrin. Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired foreman from Colgate-Palmolive in Clarksville, and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Clarksville, Indiana. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter who loved to follow his hunting dogs in the field, as well as watching Mikaila play sports. Along with his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Annette Heavrin; and siblings, Vic, Vivian, S.L., Bill, Joe, Leonard, Jerry, and Pat.
Survivors include his son, Tony Heavrin and his wife Liz; daughter, Melanie Heavrin; granddaughter, Mikaila Heavrin; brothers, Nick Heavrin, Ted Heavrin, and Randy Heavrin.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, Indiana. His funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 316 N. Sherwood Avenue, Clarksville, Indiana with burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy go to the American Cancer Society.
