Ronald "Ron"'s Story

Ronald C. Ron Dietrich, 69 years of age passed away Thursday November 30, 2017. He was born April 24, 1948 in New Albany, Indiana to the late Carl and Selma (Schoen) Dietrich. Ron was a retired electrical engineer with Jeffboat and a lifetime active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as Head Trustee for many years. He will always be remembered for his love of Christmas and Halloween decorations and was a master parade float designer and builder as well as a model train enthusiast. He was awarded the Honorable Order of the Pumpkin Award from Harvest Homecoming in 1997 as well as being an Award Winning float designer for many years. Ron was an avid fan of I.U. and New Albany basketball but most of all loved his wife, family and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Mark Allen Dietrich.
Survivors include: Wife of 47 years Nancy (Dempster) Dietrich and children; Carie (Dietrich) Lamb and Ryan Dietrich. Two Grandchildren Rylan and Peyton Lamb.
Visitation and Reception: 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday December 3rd and after 1:00 pm Monday December 4th at Grace Lutheran Church 1787 Klerner Lane in New Albany, Indiana.
