Steven Allen Fetter

On July 4, 2019 Steven Allen Fetter of Boonville and Jeffersonville, Indiana died peacefully while in the care of the VA hospital in Louisville. He was preceded in death by wife, Roz Fetter; parents, Fay and Paul Fetter; his sister Carol Fetter; and grandparents Geneva and Dewey Fetter. Steve enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and spent more than two years serving in Vietnam where he earned multiple awards. In 1977 he graduated from Boyce Bible College. From 1973 until his retirement in 2005, Steve worked for Ford. He was a proud member of UAW 862. While at Ford he taught classes on diversity issues. Steve was also a Red Cross volunteer. He volunteered for disaster relief teams during hurricanes Katrina and Wilma. Additionally, he was a trained literacy volunteer, volunteer chaplain at St. Mary's and Elizabeth Hospital, and a guest pastor at churches in Boonville and Salem, Indiana. He was also a member of the NAACP, and a member of Kentuckians Against Racism. He participated in hunger walks, and equality walks for gay rights. Furthermore, he supported the ACLU, Jobs with Justice, and Fair Trade.
Steve is survived by daughters Amy Moxley and Stephanie Moreland (Barbara); two step children; grandsons Brenden and James; siblings Larry Fetter (Margie), Paula Haynes (Richard), Paul Fetter (Tammy), Wes Fetter (Kristen), and Brock Fetter. Additionally he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 1506 Spring Street, Jeffersonville, IN. Food and fellowship will follow the service.
