Violet (Cochran) Tungate Violet (Cochran) Tungate, 83 years of age, died Saturday December 1, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born January 10, 1935 in New Albany to the late Gilbert P. and Viola B. (Johnson) Cochran and widow of Howard Tungate Jr. who died in 2014. Violet was a wonderful homemaker, mom, grandma and wife. She loved to dance at the VFW, play "Seek and Find," Bunco, and read romance novels. She was very thankful for all the many friends she made after the death of her husband Howard in 2014 and she always loved her children unconditionally. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, brother, Gilbert "Bunker" Cochran and sister Judith Harbeson. Violet will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by family, friends and all who knew her.
Survivors include three children; Kathy Ott (Larry), Mike Tungate, and Jim Tungate (Kim). seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Hall and her favorite pet dog "Booger."
Visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday , December 5 and after 10 a.m. Thursday, December 6, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street in New Albany. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday December 6, in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial in Veron Cemetery to follow.

Violet was not only a great wife and mother and grandmother she was a very loving and caring person with all that she met . She is like family to me . I loved and still love this lady. She will be missed by all exspecially me . RIP my friend. Thank you for letting me be part of your life . Till we meet again . Your friend Debbie
