Virginia's Story

Virginia "Jenny" Ritchie, 95, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2017 in Borden, Indiana. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 30, 1921 to Rev. Isidore S. Pineur and Mrs. Virgie Herndon Pineur. She grew up in Kentucky and lived most of her adult life in New Albany, Indiana, where she taught kindergarten for several years. She was a 1943 graduate of the University of Kentucky with Summa Cum Laude Honors, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church.
Jenny was a devoted wife, and mother to an adoring daughter who had Down Syndrome. She loved playing the piano and was known for being a fine Christian and a loving, kind, thoughtful person.
Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, Ottis J. Ritchie Jr., her daughter: Diane Lynn Ritchie, her parents, Isidore and Virgie Pineur, and three brothers, Louis, Isie and Donald Pineur.
A funeral service celebrating Jenny's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday March 31, 2017 at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville, 1846 E. Oak Street, New Albany, with private burial in Paris (KY) Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday before the service. Memorial Contributions may be given to DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church or to Rauch Industries.
