William Derrill Schweitzer, 83, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. The son of the late William J. and Mary Elizabeth Brown Schweitzer, Derrill was born October 22, 1934 in Laconia, Indiana. He retired from Ward Engineering in Louisville, KY. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Bonnie Stewart, Wilma Sample, Louis Edward Schweitzer, and Mary Appleby.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Loretta Langsdon Schweitzer; daughters, Connie Stiller (Robert) and Sharon Fredericks (Tony); grandchildren, Deric Stiller and Scott Seese; and great grandchildren, Coty Borden Stiller and Greyson Seese. Derrill is also survived by Sally Williar (Doug Sellers), who was like another daughter; his nephew and his wife, Jimmy and Maxine Schweitzer, who helped care for him; sister-in-law, Laura "Sug" Robertson; and brother-in-law, Wayne Langsdon.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 pm Thursday and after 11 a.m. Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany. A Celebration of Derrill's Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Kraft Spring Street Chapel with burial following in Rehoboth Cemetery in Laconia, Indiana.
