A graveside service for David P. Gibbs, 88, Jeffersonville, IN. will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday January 27, 2017 at the Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville, Indiana.
David, a long-time resident of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away on January 23, 2017. David was the son of the late Nolan Russell Gibbs (1893-1971) and Mabel Procter Gibbs (1895-1981) of Milltown, Indiana. He was born on February 9, 1928. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Thelma (Mickey) Gibbs, son Tony B. Gibbs, daughter Katrina S. Gibbs and brothers John (Jack) Gibbs and Frank Gibbs.
David is survived by his son David A. Gibbs; daughter-in-law Thelma Melissa Gibbs; granddaughters Emily M. Gibbs, Katie Gibbs Coleman and Sallie R. Gibbs; great granddaughter Tessa M. Gibbs and grandson-in-law Tyler D. Coleman; stepson Thomas Thompson and his wife Judy; grandsons Christopher and Nicholas Thompson; granddaughter-in-law Elizabeth; and great-granddaughter Cody Thompson.
David worked at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Louisville for 40 years and with its successor Zeon after their acquisition of the plant. He was a proud member of the Clark County Conservation Club and delighted in spending time on the river with friends, and family and also relished the opportunity to travel. As a wonderful father and grandfather, David will be greatly missed by his family and also by his many friends.
