Funeral services for Elzie Lee Wells, 82, of Jeffersonville, IN, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Pkwy in Jeffersonville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery in Jenkinsburg, GA. He passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
Elzie was born on November 7, 1934 in Hampton, GA to the late James Butler and Cora Lee Wells. He was retired from AAFES and most recently worked for 15 years in the gift shop at Clark Memorial Hospital. Elzie volunteered for many years as a youth sports coach in Jeffersonville and he is a member and former deacon at Oak Park Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar Eugene Wells and Harold Wells.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dorothy Wells; three children, Christopher Wells, Michele Smith and her husband Jerry, James Wells and his wife Jina; five grandchildren, Ashley Spears and her husband Jason, Trevor Smith and his wife Megan; Jared Wells; Jaden Wells; Jordan Wells; three great grandchildren, Austin Spears, Nolan Spears; Jaxon Spears; and a brother, Johnny Wells.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oak Park Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
