Floyd's Story

Text size

Floyd E. Kallembach of Riverview, Florida, finished his earthly career on Sept. 24, 2017, at age 91.
He was born in Illinois and lived mostly in Clark County, Indiana. He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1944 and attended Abilene Christian College and Indiana University.
He served in the Air Force in Europe and Japan during WW II and Korean war.
After the loss of his wife of 35 years, Martha, he moved to Florida to be with daughter, Mindy Williams, and son-in-law, Allen. He also is survived by his stepdaughter, Cindy. His parents, Floyd and Daisy, and siblings Edith, Ralph, Della Mae, and Florence, passed earlier.
He belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany for many years and was a certified lay speaker, making rounds at small rural churches in the area. He led the singing for Vespers at Westminster Village in Clarksville, where he enjoyed playing bridge, Bible study, sing-alongs, walking club, and dancing.
Since coming to Florida he has attended the Adult Day Program at Bloomindale West Rec Center where he enjoyed playing dominoes and singing. He received wonderful care there, as well as by his daughter and son-in-law and the dedicated professionals at Haley VA.
He was a faithful member of Riverview United Methodist Church and its Gleaners Class, where he led the singing. He loved Jesus, reciting scripture and singing hymns, and was faithfully in church up to his last Sunday in the flesh. May God bless and keep him in his next adventure.
A memorial service is set for 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Riverview United Methodist Church, 8002 U.S. 301 S., Riverview, FL.
