Frederick L. Yingling Jr., 79, died Sunday, March 26, 2017. The son of the late Juanita (Koch) and Frederick L. Yingling Sr., Fred was born May 28, 1937 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. His parents moved to New Albany when he was eight and he attended Silver Street School, Jr. High, and graduated from New Albany High School in 1955. Fred enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after high school and served over four years. Later he joined the U.S. Army Reserves where he retired as Master Sergeant after 30 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah; and sister, Saundra Alldaffer.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Sue (Cory) Yingling; daughters, Ruth Ann Yingling, Angie Payton (Michael), and Christy Lawrence (Robert); siblings, Kay Isaacs, Sherry Yingling, Tom Yingling (Patty), and Jerry Yingling; and granddaughters, Easton and Lexie.
Fred enjoyed taking Lexie to Toys R Us, Chuck E Cheese, Bass Pro, and the Silver Street Water Park. He absolutely adored her.
Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Road, New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Service and Military Honors will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Kraft Charlestown Road Chapel with private burial following in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany.
