Gilberte Marcella (Mirville) Knable, 86 years of age died Sunday May 21, 2017 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. She was born February 6, 1931 in Nice, France to the late Yves and Celine (Ghirardi) Mirville. Gilberte met and married her husband of 58 years Elmer F. "Bud" Knable in Nice, France and they were together until Bud's death in March of 2012. She was the co-owner and operator of Bridge Liquors with Bud until retiring. Gilberte and Bud lived out their last years in Floyds Knobs where they raised their family. They were life-long members of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and members of the St. Mary's New Albany Grade School Class of 1942. Gilberte was assisted by her loving caregivers Kristi, Jeffrey, Dwayne, Rexeen and Jill and was preceded in death by her husband "Bud" Knable in 2012 and a sister Andree Mirville in 2016.
Surviving are four children; Karl (Lynda), Elmer (Catherine), Robert (Denise) and Therese Winner (Joe); 13 grandchildren; Holly, Catie, Klint, Isaac, Britni, Karoline, Thea, Jeffrey, Jessi, Quinn, Kobe, Audrey and Arie; six great-grandchildren Porter, Savanna, Grace, Ava, Charlotte and Hattie; one sister Evette Glascock; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, and after 9 a.m. Thursday May 25, at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., in New Albany. Her Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at St. Mary of the Knobs Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary of the Knobs Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Kraft Spring Street. Chapel. Expressions of sympathy to: St. Elizabeth's or St. Meinrad.
