Lawrence "Larry"'s Story
Lawrence P. "Larry" Koenig, 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on August 9, 1939 to the late William and Lucy Koenig in Portsmouth, Ohio. Mr. Koenig worked for National Cash Register and Prime. He retired from MSD Logic where he was a Systems Support Specialist. Mr. Koenig honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He received higher education from Ohio State and Wilmington College. Mr. Koenig was a member of the Sellersburg United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, American Legion Post 204, and the Sellersburg Jay Cees. He thoroughly enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and being a Boy Scout leader. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley Koenig, his brothers, Arthur, John, Everett, and Charles Koenig, his sisters, Alice Martin and Ruth Sibley.
Survivors include his sons, Jeffery Koenig of Borden, Indiana, Chris (Laura) Koenig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his daughter, Jill (Craig) Farney, of Clarksville, Indiana; his brother, Joe (Ruby) Koenig of Columbus, Ohio; and his sister Alma Jones also of Columbus; grandchildren, Rhiannon, Drew, Chelsea, Ashley, Jillian, Adain; and his great grandchildren, Christian, Bishop, Evan and Jessa.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
