Lori Lee's Story
Lori Lee ZurSchmiede, 51, Georgetown, Indiana, passed away with utmost grace, Saturday, April 15, 2017. Wife of the late, Jimmy D. Gadd and daughter of Mary Jeanne (Atkins) Stumler and the late Adam "Harty" ZurSchmiede. Lori was born January 22, 1966 and was a 1984 graduate of Floyd Central High School.
Lori was best known as the proprietor and owner of Landscapes by Lori where she provided a multitude of services ranging from locating utilities to contract painting. Additionally, Lori was employed for over 20 years with SM&P/USIC Utility Resources where she was highly respected throughout the industry locating utilities in Harrison, Crawford, Clark and Floyd counties. She won the prestigious 1997 Top Gun Co-Champion Daniel S. Baker Award while employed there. She worked closely with varied utility representatives, contractors, and homeowners developing close friendships and trusted relationships with everyone. Lori was former Treasurer of Edwardsville Water Corporation. In her early years, Lori was a ranch hand for several summers at Wind River Ranch in Estes Park, Colorado. Lori's passion for horses, riding, and team roping won her the 1993 Yankeetown All Girls Champion Roping Award, as well as many other state and local team roping awards. Lori was an avid skeet shooter and former member of the ATA. She won many trophies and awards outshooting men and women alike with her sharp eye and steady hand. She immensely enjoyed her cattle drives and roundups out West. Lori had a great love for animals and devoted her life to caring, raising and training her beloved horses, mules, donkeys, dogs and cats.
Lori is survived by her mother, Mary Jeanne Stumler and stepfather, Bernard "Buddy"Stumler of Floyds Knobs and her siblings, Dana Murphy (Jack) of Floyds Knobs, Todd ZurSchmiede (Carol) of New Salisbury, Jackie Barr (Orville) of Lanesville, and Matthew ZurSchmiede (Dana) of Corydon; nieces, Jeannine Barr, Kassie ZurSchmiede, and Maisey ZurSchmiede; nephews, Jacob Murphy, Jared Murphy, Isaac Barr, Everette Barr, and Brenner ZurSchmiede.
Cremation was chosen following Lori's wishes. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, from 10 am to 4 pm with memorial service immediately following at Gelbach & Royse Funeral Home, 7420 Highway 64 in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial contributions be made to Hosparus - Southern Indiana or with a note to benefit the Hosparus Inpatient Center in Louisville, KY.
