Text size

Mary Helen Arwood McKinney, 77, returned into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday April 5, 2017 at the Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center. Mary was a devoted, loving wife, homemaker, and mother, along with being a great cook. "We will see you in the morning." Mary had a passion for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, along with reading and listening to southern gospel music. She always thought of others before herself. Mary left a beautiful legacy as a testament of her love, faith, and family. She was a woman of great personal integrity and noble character. Mary's life was an embodiment of Proverbs 31, "Her children rise up and call her blessed. "
Mary was born to Hartsell Alexander Arwood and Myra Mimms (Billie) Buckner Arwood on May 5, 1939 in Maryville, Tennessee, where she spent her childhood and adolescent years. In 1957 Mary married the love of her life, Thomas A. McKinney, and they started their new life together in the United States Air Force. Mary was a devoted loving wife of Tom McKinney for 55 years, who preceded her in death on November 18, 2012. Mary was a loving mother of three sons: Mark(Angela), David(Kathy) and Craig(Linda), grandmother to eleven grandchildren and great grandmother to nine great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her parents: Hartsell and Billie Arwood, her brother: Dennis Arwood and her sister: Sue Everett.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Bennett Place Assisted Living along with the staff at the Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center.
