Robert "Bob" Folks Sr., 75, Summerfield, FL., passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, February 9, 2017. He was born in Columbia, SC on June 25, 1941 to Susie Folks (Thompson) and James Devault.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Melvin Folks, Ron Folks, and Pearl Folks Collins. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Juanita McGhee Folks and their son, Robert Folks Jr.
After graduating from CA Johnson High School in 1959, he moved to Queens, New York where he lived for 44 years. Robert served in the US Army from 1966 to 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart among other awards. He retired in 2003 after 25 years as Train Operator for New York City Transit Authority.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Folks, Summerfield, Florida; children, Marcella C. Folks, South Carolina, Lena Croudep, Florida, James Croudep, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held on February 18, 2017 at New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida; Rev. Stanley M. Jacobs, Sr., Pastor.
Gravesite Committal of Ashes service will be held at the Eastern Cemetery in Jeffersonville, 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
