Ronald E. Miller, 80, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his children. He was born in Floyd County, Indiana and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Ron was the co-owner of the family business, the well-known and beloved Rookies Cookies, established in 1939 and under his direction for the past 50 years. He was a familiar face in the community for many years with his involvement as former President of the Jaycees and the Southern Indiana Chamber of Commerce. He donated to multiple community charities weekly until his death. He was a member of the Retail Bakers Association (RBA) and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Monnie Maxine Miller, and his parents, Roy Miller and Agnes and Edgar Rouck.
He is survived by five daughters, Leslie Lowe, Dawn Wilson (Frank), Shara Augsburger (Jerry), Julie Killermann (Kevin), and Ronda Stumler (Dewayne); one son, Chris Miller (Tara); one brother, Martin L. Rouck (Bridget); two sisters, Diana K. Witt (Terry) and Mitzi OLeary; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Seabrook Dieckmann Naville Funeral Homes, 1119 East Market Street on Monday, February 13, from 11 a.m. 8 p.m. The visitation will include a prayer service at 7 p.m., during which the eulogy will be read. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial following in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
