Ruby Naomi Poteet, age 79, of Jeffersonville, IN, passed away July 11, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer's. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and friend. Her smile and hugs always lit up the room and she was truly loved by everyone. She never met a stranger and accepted everyone for who they were by making them feel special and wanted.
Ruby grew up in Jeffersonville and graduated from Jeffersonville High School as class Valedictorian and then went on to marry her sweetheart, Logan, and raise her family. She retired from the Census Bureau after working 35 years as an executive secretary. She was a member of Cook Memorial United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, a volunteer for the American Red Cross blood drives, a volunteer poll worker on election day, and avid Jeff Red Devil basketball fan and Duke Blue Devil fan. She loved attending school and sporting events that her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren participated in. Family reunions were very special to her and she always looked forward to organizing and attending them. She left us a lifetime of amazing memories and stories.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles Logan Poteet; daughter, Peggy Tedesco (Phillip); son, Marvin "Skip" Poteet (fiancée, Becky); grandchildren, Jason Tedesco (fiancée, Bobi), Rebecca Decker (Drew), Amanda Cox, Jeff Poteet (Jackie), Lucas Poteet, Meghan Van Fossen (Evan), Matt, Mason, and Myles Hall; great grandchildren, Makayla, Will, Marissa, Brennan, and Harper; and sister, Judy Stogsdill (Earl). She was proceeded in death by her parents, Edward and Amanda Sparks, and 10 brothers and sisters.
