Shirley K. Koenig, 78, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at her home. She was born on March 12, 1938 to the late Clarence and Nellie Lair in Camden, Ohio. Mrs. Koenig retired from MKM after 17 years of working in accounting. Prior to working at MKM, she worked as the office secretary at Speed Memorial Church in Speed, Indiana. Mrs. Koenig was a member of the Sellersburg United Methodist Church, a former member of the Sellersburg Jay Cees and the Jay C Ettes. She traveled the world with her husband to places near and far, but her favorite leisure was spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She truly was the best mom and mamaw.
Mrs. Koenig is survived by her husband Larry Koenig of Sellersburg; her sons Jeffery Koenig of Borden, Indiana and Christopher (Laura) Koenig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her daughter, Jill (Craig) Farney of Clarksville, Indiana; her brother Kenneth (Irene) Lair of Paris, Ohio; and her sister Dorothy (Bill) McCoy of New Palestine, Indiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren Rhiannon Meyer of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Drew Farney of Clarksville, Indiana, Chelsea Koenig of Salem, Indiana, Ashley Koenig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jillian Koenig of Charlestown, Indiana, Aidan Koenig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; great-grandson, Christian Meyer, Bishop Huges, and Evan LaDuke; and one great;granddaughter Jessa Casey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.garrfuneralservices.com.
