T.J. Helms, 84, died Monday at his residence in Jeffersonville, IN. He was born in Baxter, TN to the late Arlie and Alta (Boyd) Helms. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany. Mr. Helms served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include: his son, Ronald Kent Helms (Betty); daughters, Paula D. Scaggs (Mike Weasner), Robin Tindall, Lisa Tindall, Kelly Tindall (Jolly); brothers, L.A. Helms and Morgan Helms; sisters, Connie Redmond and Jean Murray; his sister-in- law Lyn Back (David); and his niece Leslie Neal. He has two grandchildren Leslie O'Brien and Stephanie Tindall and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Feller) Helms, grandson Jeffrey Buckel, granddaughter Aimee Smith and six brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook, Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes in New Albany. His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in New Albany with visitation at church from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
