74 years of age passed away Tuesday June 13, 2017 in New Albany, IN. Tim was born May 8, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to the late Gregory and Emma (Groener) Janson. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis aboard the USS Shangri-La.
Tim spent his career in the recycling industry and founded Riverside Recycling in New Albany, IN in 1974. He was a true entrepreneur and pioneer in the industry. Working with his sons, he grew the business into the largest recycling company in the region, with multiple locations in Louisville, St. Louis, and Nashville. Tim was known for his frank nature, fairness, integrity, and work ethic. He passed these values on to all those fortunate enough to work with him.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and had the unique ability to bring life and laughter to any situation. He was a devout Catholic and a patriot. He loved his God and his country deeply.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Dan Janson.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne Janson, sons; Matthew T. Janson and his wife Mimi, Gregory L. Janson and his wife Jennifer, grandchildren; Nick, Jeanne, Emma, Charlie, Jack, Teddy, Ella, and Ava Janson, sisters; Patricia Roy, and Juanita Scherer, brothers; Ben, Father Cris, Duke, Ray, Mike, Mark, Steve, Harry, Gerry, and Dwight Janson, stepchildren; Elizabeth, Alex, and Richard.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, June 19, 2017 at Kraft Funeral Service 708 E. Spring Street in New Albany, Indiana. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church with military honors and reception to follow.
