William L. "Rags" Pangburn, 90, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Friendship Health Rehab Center. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1832, American Legion Post 35, Clark Masonic Lodge 40, Jeffersonville F.O.E., Sellersburg Moose Lodge and Musician's Union Local 631. He was a retired Administrative Officer at the U.S. Census Bureau. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member and attended St. Luke's United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Garldyne "Dolly" Case Pangburn of Jeffersonville, IN; his daughter, Debra D. Gamboa of Louisville, KY; his sisters, Joyce Hayworth of Jeffersonville, IN, and Donna Grose of Jeffersonville, IN; his grandson, William J. "B.J." Flynn and his wife Jessica of Louisville, KY; his great- granddaughter, Avery Flynn; and great-grandson, Beckett Flynn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Pangburn and Hazel Sparks Pangburn. His brothers, Kenneth Pangburn, Thomas Pangburn, and Chester L. Pangburn. His sisters, Barbara Pangburn and Betty Shannahan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Luke's United Church of Christ.
Funeral service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home.
