Alice Jean Johnson
Alice Johnson, 79, of Floyd County, IN, went home to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Hillcrest Village in Jeffersonville, Indiana..
Alice was born in New Albany to Robert and Hazel Atkins on October 17, 1939. She graduated from New Albany High School in 1957. She went on to earn college credit hours at Indiana University Southeast campus. She was a homemaker and later in life worked in retail at the Hallmark Store and then Ben Franklin Crafts in New Albany. She was a member of Georgetown Southern Baptist Church. She was a member of the Homemakers Club and Red Hat Club of Floyd County. She enjoyed watching baseball, crafting, collecting Hallmark ornaments, Precious Moments figurines, and snowmen, traveling, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel and her daughter and sons, Tracy, Brad, and Brian.
Surviving are her husband, Bruce; daughter, Robin; seven grandchildren, Audrianna, Klariece, David, Wilburn, William, Braiden, and Brianna; and two great-grandchildren, Mathias and Bentley; and her siblings, June, Norma, Robert, and Martha Jane.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to our Georgetown Southern Baptist Church family for their loving, caring support of Bruce and Alice during the progression of Alice's illness. Thank you also to Azalea Hills Assisted Living Facility for taking such good care of Alice during her time there as well. We are also very grateful to Hillcrest Village Care Center for their loving care of our loved one's final days. Thank you for making her as comfortable as possible.
Visitation will be held at Spring Valley Funeral Home in New Albany, IN on September 11, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will also be held at Spring Valley Funeral Home in New Albany, IN on September 12, 2019 at 2 p.m. with a two hour viewing prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery on Grantline Road.
