Barbara C. "Fisk" Hollis left this earth for her forever home in heaven on October 14, 2024, in Louisville, KY surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina, on July 25, 1944 to the late Claude Arley and L. Audry "Sally" Fisk. After the war, the family returned to their home in Marquette, Michigan. She graduated from Graveraet High School in 1962 and attended Northern Michigan University. She then married Tom Hollis Jr. in 1963. After living in Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky, the family settled in Jeffersonville in 1980, where she resided for the remainder of her life. However, for all her life, she loved returning to the shores of Lake Superior.
Barbara began her career with the City of Jeffersonville in 1984, working for the Clerk-Treasurer's Office; she retired as the Chief Deputy in 2011. She worked as a sales representative for Pampered Chef and Longaberger Basket Company for many years, earning the nickname "Basket Barb." She was elected to public office as a member and later President of the Clark County Council. She proudly served the citizens of Clark County up to the time of her death.
Among her passions and pastimes were traveling with close friends and exploring National Parks and other beautiful areas around the country. Barbara also enjoyed traveling to reunite with her cousins. She was an avid Bridge player and loved playing cards and other games with family and friends. She was known to provide many gifts of love through her cooking, baking, and knitting. Above all, her grandchildren and spending time with them was her greatest joy. Barbara was devoted to her faith her whole life. She was a longtime member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church and proudly served in Job's Daughters in her youth.
Barbara is survived by her dear brother, Lawrence Fisk; and her dear sister, Nancy Baldwin (Gary). Barbara had three loving children, Tom III (Tammy), Todd (Nikki), and Angela. She also had eight grandchildren, Aneleise, Daniel, Mark, Lilliana, Aiden, Anson, Ava, and Lola, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of who loved her deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Brenda.
Besides her loving family, Barbara leaves behind many, many friends and others who loved her for her qualities of giving and caring. She treated everyone she met with kindness and was well known for her generosity, optimism, and loving smile.
Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville on Friday, October 18 from 2 to 8 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1840 E. 8th Street, Jeffersonville, on Saturday at 11:30 a.m with her eulogy being shared by the family at 11 a.m. at the church.
