Benita Rose Romeo Obituary

New Albany, Indiana - Benita Rose Romeo, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and boundless love. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of the late Henry and Geneva Hooten.

Benita was a member of Graceland Baptist Church since 1974, where her quiet strength, servant's heart, and steadfast belief were evident to all who knew her. Her faith was not only something she professed, but something she lived daily through kindness, hospitality, and love for others.

The beloved matriarch of her family, Benita poured her heart into those she loved most. She and her devoted husband, Guy A. Romeo Jr., built a beautiful life together over 60 years of marriage, one marked by partnership, perseverance, and deep affection. Their home was a place of warmth, welcome, and unconditional love, where family gatherings were treasured and memories were lovingly made.

Benita found her greatest joy in her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Guy A. Romeo Jr.; her children, Guy A. Romeo III (Amanda), Susanne Roach (Troy), and Michele Dierking (Will); her siblings, Dottie Maxwell, Jesse Hooten, and Jenny White; nine cherished grandchildren; and three adored great-grandchildren. Each generation carries forward her example of love, grace, and quiet strength.
