New Albany, Indiana - Bernadette A. Marking Lynch Fife, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday November 24, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Louisville, KY. to the late Arthur J. and Antoinette Schoenbaechler Marking. She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1952. As a single mom with 6 children, she attended evening classes at New Albany High School where she took Bookkeeping. She was a bookkeeper for Bishop-Roney Lumber Company, Louisville Country Club and Owl Creek Country Club. She was very generous with her time volunteering as a 4-H Leader, Hosparus Thrift Store and helping others as she saw needs. She was a member of Graceland Baptist Church. She went on 3 mission trips. She went sky diving for the first time in 2020 at age 86. She made National News when she went sky diving the second time at age 88 commemorating her son Bobby's 60th birthday. One of her cherished memories was that she was able to visit her grandfather's birthplace in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years: Alva R. Fife Jr., her son: Bobby "Possum" Lynch, her sister: Bertha Zabel, her brother: Anthony Marking, her sons-in-law: Bill Dougherty and Jerry Schamel, and the father of her children: James S. Lynch.

Bernadette is survived by her children: Rosie Bryant(Allen), Carol Sue Dougherty, Dottie Clark(Gary), Brenda Sprigler (Bobby) and Jim S. Lynch Jr.(Tammy), three brothers: Charles Marking, Arthur Marking(Rita Lynn) and Joseph Marking and 5 sisters: Alberta Wagner, Mary Didat, Rita Schueler, Ruth Houghton and Kathleen Stewart, a brother in-law: Darrell Zabel; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren

A Celebration of Bernadette's life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday December 2, 2025 at Graceland Baptist Church(3600 Kamer Miller Rd). Visitation will be held at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1119 E. Market St.) from 11 AM - 7:30 PM on Monday Dec. 1, 2025 and at the funeral home from 9 - 10:30 AM Tuesday before the service. Her burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be given to: Choices Life Resource Center, Brandon's House Counseling Center, or to the donor's charity of choice. (Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.)
