Carol Jean (Cheatham) Madden, 80, of Memphis, IN, passed away at her home at 7 p.m. with family surrounding her, on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

Carol was born on Friday, July 12, 1940, in Louisville, KY. She was the daughter of William "Don" and Cloria "Towie" (Popovich) Cheatham who both preceded her in death.

On July 23, 1983, in Clarksville, IN, Carol married Danny R. Madden, who survives in Memphis, IN.

Carol retired from Dispensers Optical Services in Louisville, KY, where she was an Optician and one of the first 300 people to be licensed in the state of Kentucky.

Carol was a member of the Community Church of God in Clarksville, IN. She loved traveling to Hawaii and to the mountains. Her favorite mode of travel was by motorhome. She enjoyed reading her Bible, making crafts, and going to the lake where she would boat, waterski, and fish.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 38 years who she always had a great time and shared many happy memories with, Danny R. Madden; four children, Tom (Susan) Bernardi of Henryville, IN, Tina (John Turner) Terry of Seneca, IL, Donnie Madden of Paoli, IN, and Tommie (Darlene) Madden of Birdseye, IN; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Amanda, Carmen, Kiya, Derek, Richard, Charlene, Gavin, Chayenne, Caroline, Emmalee, Alynna, Kinzie, and Dillon; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Shirley (Ken) Clay of D'Iberville, MS.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Renee.

Pastor Richard Willowby will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Henryville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Henryville.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Indiana.
