Sellersburg, Indiana - Carolyn Popp Makowsky, 89, of Sellersburg, IN passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025 at Maple Manor Christian Home, Sellersburg.
She was born on November 7, 1935 in Sellersburg to Frank and Clara Popp (Ehringer).
She was a member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church and her faith was an important aspect in her life always being a prayer warrior for others.
Carolyn found pride and purpose being an elected official. She served as Clark County Recorder for eight years and Clark County Assessor for 16 years.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Makowsky and her siblings, Martha Weinmann, Loretta Osborne, Walt Popp, Gene Popp, Helen Swank and Aline Smith.
She is survived by her sister Patty Millman (Jon) and her sons, David Makowsky (Shirley), Martin Makowsky (Amy); daughters; Mindy Howe (Pat), Jane White (Curtis), and Sarah Hart. Carolyn also leaves eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren to cherish her legacy.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Garr Funeral Home, 7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, on Wednesday, March 5, from 2 until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the procession to the church.
