Charles Leroy Winters and Geraldine "Gerry" (Smallwood) Winters, both of Memphis, IN, fell victim to the Coronavirus in early 2021, five weeks apart from one another.

Charles, 84, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was born Saturday, September 21, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN. He was the son of Henry and Carrie (Thorpe) Winters, both preceded him in death. Gerry, 84, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. She was born on Sunday, December 20, 1936, in Clark Co., IN. She was the daughter of Harold "Brownie" and Martha (Prall) Smallwood. Charles was a 1954 Sellersburg High School graduate. He went on to join the Army where he served from May 1, 1958, until May 23, 1964. He was employed at Cummins Engine Co. and Servend. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and games. He was a former member of the Conservation Club in Columbus, IN. Gerry was a 1956 Henryville High School graduate and a housewife. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, play cards, bake, and share her baked goods with others.

They are survived by two daughters, Ragina W. (Rudolph W.) Beuttenmuller of Dallas, Texas and Betty Jane (Glen) Anderson of Steward, Alaska, three grandchildren, Will (Mackenzie) Beuttenmuller, Gage Anderson, and Carrie Anderson; and one great-grandchild, Teddy Beuttenmuller.

Gerry is survived by two siblings, Bob (Ellen) Smallwood of Greenwood, IN and Connie (Ron) Stewart of Scottsburg, IN.

Charles was preceded in death by his only brother, Henry Winters and Gerry was preceded in death by her siblings, Dina Guernsey, Betty Smallwood, Rex Smallwood, and Gloria Houk.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville, to celebrate the lives of Gerry and Charles Winters. Burial of both of their cremains to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Henryville, IN.

Friends and family may visit from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville.
