New Albany, IN - Charles Ernest Rhoads Jr., 80, of New Albany, IN., passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born in New Albany, IN on December 16, 1945, to Charles and Esther Rhoads Sr.

Charles was an Air Force Veteran serving our country during the Vietnam War. He was member of the American Legion Post 28, the National Association of Home Builders, as well as a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ. Charles was a craftsman and had a long successful career as a Home Builder, eventually he branched out on his own to create CE Rhoads Construction. His daughters, Ellen and Alisan recall him being a true Renaissance man. He could fix anything and his skill set and knowledge were seemingly endless. Charles also loved taking in and enjoyed the beach, where he would sit for hours, and playing golf with his friends. There will be many stories of his life to be shared and lessons to be remembered. Most importantly, he was a loving and adoring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

Preceding Charles in death are his wife, Dianne (Wagner) Rhoads; his parents, Charles Ernest Rhoads Sr. and Esther Elsie (Schwender) Rhoads. The family members left to cherish memories and celebrate Charles' life are his daughters, Ellen Kennedy (Shawn) and Alisan Rhoads; grandchildren, Austin Shoopman (Miranda), Benjamin Rhoads-Mann (Joann), Noah Kennedy (Kimberly), Brody Kennedy, and Bryson Scales (Kayleigh); great-grandchildren, Abel Shoopman, Ezra Mann, and Halleigh Shoopman; his sister, Kay Ann Hall (Ron).

On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, there will be a visitation from 1:00 pm-8:00 pm and on Thursday from 11:00am-12:00 pm, at Naville & Seabrook Oak Street Chapel, 1846 E. Oak Street, New Albany, IN. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, 12:00 pm at Naville & Seabrook, with entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, IN. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Rex Robley Veterans Hospital, 800 Zorn Ave., Louisville, KY 40206.
