Charles Paul Schickel, age 88, of New Albany, IN passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

Paul was born to the late Ethel Mann in New Albany on January 21, 1937. He was a proud veteran and served four years in the United States Coast Guard. Paul retired from Silvercrest after 20 years of employment and from General Electric after 11 years of employment. Paul was talented as a carpenter and enjoyed gardening. He loved riding his bicycle, reading, and spending time outside.

Paul is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mann; granddaughter, Megan Smith; his brothers, Leo Schickel and Joe Schickel; and sister, Mary Reynolds.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Schickel; daughters, Samantha (Chris) Durbin, Cindy (David) Sams, and Becky (Matt) Shannon; sons, Jeff (Connie) Schickel, Chris (Kelly) Schickel, Doug Smith, and Tim Smith; grandchildren, Amber, Jeny, Jeff, Adam, Jackie, Bethany, Samantha, Michael, Tyler, and Seneca; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Steve Schickel; and many extended family and friends.

A visitation for Charles will be held Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany. A funeral service will occur on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Kraft Funeral Service. An entombment will occur on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
