Cheri A. Cope, 82, of Henryville, IN, passed away at 12:45 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, IN.

Cheri was born Monday, February 14, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN. She was the daughter of Harry King and Verna Dolores Esther (Blom) King.

On December 7, 1968 in Detroit, MI, she married Freeman L. Cope, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2015.

Cheri retired from the US Census Bureau. She enjoyed traveling, driving on vacations with her family, going to Vegas slot tournaments, and was known for being the best country cook, featuring her specialty, fried chicken.

Survivors include 3 children, Robin Lynne Fenske of Yakima, WA, Layne Thomas Cope of Palmyra, IN, Paige Anne Cope of Henryville, IN, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Gail Sebastian Mediana of Tucson, AZ.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Leslie James Ackerman.

In keeping with the wishes of Cheri, cremation was entrusted to Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville.

Memorial services will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday.
